Exams can often be a stressful time for students, making strategies for coping with the pressure all the more important. At Collège Champittet, we believe that prioritising student wellbeing is key to ensuring success, both academically and personally.
Recently, our Swiss Maturité students proved their resilience and confidence with their excellent exam performance. We are proud to share that 100% of our students passed their Swiss Maturité exams, held in late January and early February. More than half of our students took exams in physics and applications of mathematics, while a quarter took exams in economics and law. Latin, Russian and art were also popular subjects among our students.
Furthermore, with 122 points, our student Alexandra H. set a new all-time record for Swiss Maturité results at Collège Champittet. She also achieved the best results in the whole of French-speaking Switzerland in the Swiss Maturité exams, winter session.
With the exam period over, now is the perfect moment for our students to take some time for themselves and re-instil healthy habits. As many learners and parents alike know, sleep is often the first thing that gets sacrificed in order to study for exams. This is actually counterproductive, as studies show that sleep is essential to learning and long-term memory formation. Consider getting a good night’s sleep – and making it a regular habit – as the perfect “reward” following a tough exam!
The pre-exam period can be very intense, with so much focus on test preparation. After the exam, it’s a good idea for students to relieve some of that stress by taking a mental breather. From getting lost in a great book, to listening to music, journaling, or meditating, there are many ways for students to enjoy some peaceful “me” time.
Social interaction is also a fantastic way to boost emotional wellbeing. Team sports, clubs and activities, and informal get-togethers with friends all provide a valuable outlet for young people to escape from academic pressures and connect with others.
Understandably, exams can present students with a new source of stress – but they don’t need to turn life into a roller-coaster! Building a balanced approach to schoolwork and wellbeing throughout the year can help students feel ready for exams and other challenges when they do arrive.
At Champittet, we help our learners to develop sustainable time management skills in order to reach their academic and personal potential. From breaking tasks down into smaller chunks to setting specific goals, these strategies make it easier for learners to handle pressure and achieve success. Our teachers and counsellors will be guiding students in navigating these skills as they prepare for upcoming exams, such as the International Baccalaureate (from April 27th to May 10th), French Baccalaureate (from 2nd June to 1st July) and our semester exams for Grades 9 to 13 (from June 1st to 9th).
Developing healthy approaches to learning and living are skills that Champittet students take with them into university and beyond. By placing well-being at the heart of its approach, our community enables students to flourish, as evidenced by the numerous university offers they have received.
In 2026, our final-year Champittet students have received university offers from top institutions around the world, including École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, University of St. Gallen, EHL Hospitality Business School, Erasmus University Rotterdam, IE University, University College London, King’s College London, McGill University, University of Toronto, University of Washington, and Rutgers University.
We are so proud of your achievements, and can’t wait to see what you do next!
