This winter, we are delighted to announce a complete transformation of our Early Years playground, representing a significant investment in our facilities and in the learning experience of our youngest students.
The new outdoor space has been thoughtfully designed to reflect the Reggio Emilia philosophy that underpins our Early Years curriculum. This child-led approach encourages curiosity, creativity, and exploration, allowing children to learn through play and discovery.

The playground will feature a range of carefully selected elements including a sand pit, bark pit, water station, tunnels, decking, and a variety of textured surfaces. Each area provides opportunities for children to engage their senses, develop coordination, and take safe, meaningful risks as they explore the world around them.

In addition to the new play features, the entire area will be raised to align with the classrooms, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor learning spaces. This design ensures that the outdoors becomes a natural extension of the classroom, promoting continuous learning in all environments.

As the Head of Early Years explained, “Our goal is to provide an environment where children can explore, investigate, and understand the world through hands-on experiences. This new playground will support all seven areas of learning in our curriculum, particularly ‘Understanding the World’, by allowing children to learn both inside and outside the classroom.
Construction will take place during the Christmas and New Year holidays, ensuring the space is ready for children to enjoy when they return in January.
We look forward to welcoming our students back to an inspiring new environment where learning truly comes to life.
