Visionaries Behind the Festival
Founded and directed by Xavier Patinot and Misha Piatigorsky, both renowned musicians and visionaries, the festival offered a stunning celebration of artistry and improvisation. Piatigorsky—creator of the New York jazz phenomenon The Daddy Rabbit—assembled a stellar lineup including pianist Héctor Martignon, vocalists Emily Braden, Raj Mason, Liz Rosa, and pianist Moncef Genoud, among others. Each artist delivered a masterful performance, blending technical brilliance with emotional depth and pure passion for the craft.
Learning from the Masters
For LCIS students, the festival was as much about learning as performing. Throughout the weekend, our young musicians participated in exclusive workshops and masterclasses led by these international jazz greats. They explored phrasing, articulation, harmony, melody, and improvisation, while also gaining invaluable insight into vocal health, creativity, and performance. These lessons—shared directly by the world’s finest jazz artists—will undoubtedly stay with them for years to come.
Students Steal the Spotlight
The highlight of the weekend came when a group of IB Diploma students took to the stage for an hour-long set of 16 songs, blending jazz and contemporary styles. Featuring talented vocalists, guitarists, bassists, drummers, and pianists, their performance showcased remarkable musicianship, ensemble coordination, and confidence. The audience’s warm response—and glowing feedback from the visiting musicians—was a testament to their dedication and professionalism.
A Lasting Impression
Performing in such a prestigious setting was both exhilarating and inspiring for our students. It strengthened their artistic confidence, deepened their passion for music, and created memories they will carry forward with pride.
We’re delighted that the Rolle Jazz Fest will return in September 2026, and even prouder that our students have already been invited back to perform. For many, this experience was the highlight of the year—an unforgettable blend of education, artistry, and community spirit.
