With the whole world living in extraordinary times there were a few moments where we thought we may not make it here. Thanks to the dedication of the team here at Northbridge International School Cambodia, the journey was smooth and trouble free and arrival was a huge relief after the hustle of packing, saying goodbyes and organising everything.

To say that our lives have been disrupted by the coronavirus is an understatement. All plans are affected. However, as we prepare to return to campus learning at Northbridge International School Cambodia, we know what a roller coaster of emotions our students are experiencing, and it is exhausting.

Today marked the end of the school year 2019-2020, and we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the achievement of our 40 Northbridge International School Cambodia graduates who have completed their schooling journey with us.

As the year comes to an end, I have been reflecting on how much all of us at Northbridge International School Cambodia have grown over the last few months. Our students, teachers and parents have all risen to the different challenges, and we have all learned new skills, developed stronger resilience and found different ways to learn and engage with new information. This year has shown us that all of us are able to be life-long learners!

The Northbridge International School Cambodia Arts Council presented Creativity Night virtually this year as a result of the enforced closure of the school campus. Creativity Night is a much looked forward to student-led event at NISC, an annual evening that provides an opportunity for our students to express themselves through both visual and performing arts.

Usually, Grade 5 students at Northbridge International School Cambodia mark the end of their time in the PYP with the Exhibition. However, as most things in life have changed in the past few months, so too, has the Exhibition.

During this time of remote learning during the Northbridge International School Cambodia Virtual School Experience, we have had to upend accepted norms around screen time for children.

Necessity is said to be the mother of invention, and I think it safe to say the sudden shift from classroom to computer screen made inventors of us all at Northbridge International School Cambodia.

When faced with the challenge of moving to remote learning in EL3 at Northbridge International School Cambodia, we wanted to ensure that we could still provide the children and their families with a sense of continuity and structure to their school day. We have done so by continuing to offer all children with daily play-based, purposeful and practical learning experiences to complete at home.

The challenges of the virtual school experience are inescapable. Students and teachers at Northbridge International School Cambodia have been walking a steep learning slope for the last 2 months with successes and failures but always with the most positive attitude to make this a meaningful experience where everyone learns and benefits. Let’s take a look at some amazing work and projects that our students are working on or already completed and finish with the reflections from teachers about this experience.

In recent years, including at Northbridge International School Cambodia, education has seen a trend in moving away from the traditional subject specific classroom tasks and assessments and into a more interdisciplinary approach to learning.

Even with having our music classes virtually, music has still been remarkably good at bringing us together and being a creative outlet for students. There are certainly challenges, however it is beautiful to see Northbridge International School Cambodia students (and parents, and even pets sometimes!) enjoying music at home. Read on to see the unique ways that our students are still singing, composing, and playing instruments.

Although meeting face to face on our Northbridge International School Cambodia campus is a far more ideal learning environment, our students have met current challenges with a positive attitude and adapted well to a virtual learning environment. They have utilised resources at home and their surrounding environment to explore visual arts.

The world as we knew it, including at Northbridge International School Cambodia, changed rapidly due to Covid-19. At the same time I noticed a change on my social media feeds. More and more people were sharing music; their ten most influential albums, links to videos of their favourite songs, and homemade videos of amateurs and professionals performing.

We wanted to share with just some of the exciting new activities Nord Anglia Education has planned for Global Campus, our platform connecting our 66,000 students across 29 countries around the world, including at Northbridge International School Cambodia.
