As a part of the Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong community let us give our heartiest congratulations to Callum Lang for winning the 18 years and under category in the Dishui Lake Olympic distance triathlon event over the weekend. Completing a 1.5 km swim, 40 km cycle and 10 km run is no small feat, and we are incredibly proud of his achievement to emerge victorious.

We are excited to announce the implementation of two new programmes in our school, both of which will greatly benefit our students’ reading development: Accelerated Reader and Star Reading Assessment.

As The United Kingdom, commonwealth countries, and many diverse communities round the world prepare to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, it is poignant to reflect upon our own identity as the oldest international school in Shanghai, providing the full UK curriculum to international families for over twenty years.

To be able to use confidently more than one language truly opens doors and a world of opportunities. New places can be visited, and new friends across cultures and continents can be made. Travel, business, research, and interaction can be so much easier if you can speak the language of the people you meet. The knowledge of any foreign language not only can enrich your understanding of a culture’s history, literature, art, and music. It can promote better understanding, goodwill, and cooperation which can reinforce what unites people rather than what divides them.  .

Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong was filled with enthusiastic energy and excitement as we celebrated our 20th anniversary on Saturday 15th April. The day was filled with interactive performances, engaging activities, delicious food, and opportunities to create lasting memories.

Being an international student can be both exciting and challenging. One of the challenges you may face is adapting to a new culture and environment. This is where creativity can be particularly helpful.

We spoke to Vicky Saward, Head of Training for the Schools Division at the Anna Freud Centre, a children and young people’s mental health charity that works closely with our schools.

Maths in the Primary School at Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong is taught one lesson each day. Lessons are taught by class teachers who are helped by our highly skilled teaching assistants. We stretch, support, and challenge our students in every lesson by providing questions and strategies that require our students to reason, justify and argue their mathematical thinking. At NAIS, we build creativity in Maths by using a range of well-tried, proven methods and skills based on current research. We teach Maths following best practice and this helps us build considerate learners, who work together with others to solve problems. Our mission is to teach and prepare all our students for real life situations they will encounter not just in school as children but in the future when they become adults.

We are working on a series of activities and events to mark this momentous occasion. We want to tell the unique story of NAIS from the perspective of former and current staff, students and parents through stories and pictures. If you would like to be part of this project we would love to hear from you. You and your children were once part of our special community, and have all been on this journey to 20 years!

Higher Education preparation can sometimes feel like an insurmountable ascent of selecting locations, sifting through world rankings, finalising predicted grades and sitting examinations when your child is in their final years of secondary school.

Students in the Model United Nations CCA had the opportunity to represent NAIS Pudong at the Shanghai Singapore International Model United Nations (SSIMUN) conference.

NAIS Pudong encourages students to think beyond where they might attend university. We provide the resources and support necessary for students to think critically about their future and how to position themselves in a rapidly changing world in terms of their education needs.

The General Consul of Colombia, Mr. Daniel Cruz Cárdenas, and Margarita Sabogal visited our school on 2nd of December 2022. It was an amazing opportunity for our students to speak Spanish in a more formal context whilst learning about Colombia from someone passionate about his country.
