BIS Abu Dhabi Graduate Interview

Meet Fatma Al Meraikhi, Class of 2026 BTEC Business Graduate
Fatma joined The British International School Abu Dhabi in September 2012 as an FS2 student. Over the past 14 years, she has been part of the BIS Abu Dhabi community, building lifelong friendships, confidence and valuable skills along the way.
This year, Fatma achieved an outstanding D*D*D* in her BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business, a reflection of her dedication and perseverance.
"I felt incredibly happy and proud," she said. "I dedicated countless hours to my assignments and always aimed to produce my best work. There were definitely stressful moments, but receiving D*D*D* made all the hard work worthwhile. It showed me that consistency and perseverance really do pay off."
Fatma will continue her studies at Zayed University, where she will pursue a Bachelor's degree in Business Intelligence.
"I chose Zayed University because the Business Intelligence programme combines business with technology, data and artificial intelligence, which are becoming increasingly important in the UAE," she explained. "I've always enjoyed business, but I also wanted to study something future focused that prepares me for tomorrow's opportunities."
Although she will remain in Abu Dhabi, Fatma is looking forward to embracing university life.
"While it's a little scary stepping outside my comfort zone, I'm excited to meet new people, become more independent and challenge myself in new ways."
Fatma believes the BTEC Programme has prepared her well for university by developing practical skills including time management, organisation, teamwork, communication, research and problem solving.
Beyond the classroom, she was a Sixth Form Senior Ambassador and UAE Leader Ambassador, helping to organise school events and represent the school throughout the year. She also managed the BISAD Seniors 2026 Instagram page, keeping her year group connected and celebrating student achievements, while gaining valuable work experience at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
Having spent almost her entire education at BIS Abu Dhabi, choosing a favourite memory was difficult.
"BIS Abu Dhabi has been my second home since I was four years old," she reflected. "I'll always remember the friendships I made, the support from my teachers and the excitement of school events. Looking back, it's the little everyday moments that I'll treasure the most."
When asked what she will miss most, her answer was immediate.
"My teachers have supported and encouraged me throughout my journey, celebrated my achievements and always believed in me. They have played a huge role in helping me grow both academically and personally."
Reflecting on Year 13, Fatma said staying organised and focused on her goals helped her overcome challenges.
"I've learned that resilience, discipline and consistency are just as important as ability, and those qualities helped me achieve the results I was aiming for."
Looking ahead, Fatma hopes to build a career in business intelligence, data analytics or AI driven business solutions before one day launching her own business.
"I've always wanted to become an entrepreneur. One day I hope to turn that dream into reality."
Congratulations, Fatma. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved and wish you every success as you begin this exciting new chapter at Zayed University.
