At the end of Term 3 2025, a group of seventeen Year 12 students, embarked on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Expedition in Borneo, for an unforgettable two-week journey of adventure, cultural exchange, service, and personal growth. A true BISAD Baby, she has left a lasting mark not only in the classroom, but across courts, fields and swimming pools. Last term was brilliant for our BIS Abu Dhabi World Scholars! Our 2025 season kicked off during the Winter Break, with 15 students competing in the Dubai Winter Global Round. In addition to taking part in the academic challenges of writing, debate and quizzing, students also enjoyed a fun-filled scavenger hunt at Global Village. We were thrilled that 12 of our scholars qualified for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University in November 2025 — an incredible achievement that we are all immensely proud of! The season continued with our first Regional Round of the year, held in Dubai. We were delighted to see 21 students qualify for the next round. This Ramadan, I have been truly moved by the way our students have embraced the spirit of the holy month, demonstrating kindness, generosity, and a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

For the past decade, The British International School Abu Dhabi has actively participated in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), promoting personal growth, resilience, and community impact among our students. This year is particularly special as we celebrate our first cohort of Gold Award achievers. With the largest number of participants ever, the DofE International Award continues to be a vital part of our mission to create world-class learning experiences, nurturing empathetic, resilient, and talented individuals.

From December 11th to December 16th, 2024, 16 male students from Years 8 and 9 took part in a life-changing journey to Mecca and Medina during our school's first Umrah trip. The programme, organised by the Islamic Department and overseen by Dr. Abdul Rahim Al-Amad and Professor Ahmed Arafa, offered students a special chance to connect their classroom lessons with real-world experiences while deepening their spiritual understanding.

We are delighted to celebrate the exceptional accomplishments of our students in academics, showcasing their dedication, talent, and passion for learning.

Turkan, Tia, and Renad – our student Social Impact team – returned from Houston in June. The final part of their Houston experience was to provide feedback to the school’s senior leaders about what they had learnt during the UNICEF training and to propose their ideas for change.
